FYI, I have done some simple frequency analysis on the domestic energy consumption wind power generation balance for the UK. It would need around a 100kWh battery (Tesla Model X) per household to balance the daily power. For the annual/seasonal fluctuation it takes a bit more, or sharing as you say power over a wider network, possibly north/south.
