Thanks for the nice "primer" on the necessity of a strong and bi-directional electrical grid. Often I wonder whether in an ideal world some kind of global and North-South grid could be developed, balancing renewable energy production and consumption on a wider scale, daily and seasonal.
Should you be interested, my personal findings on the UK's domestic energy consumption, it will need several measures to balance production and consumption: storage, demand response and larger grid networks.
