Thanks for your response; yes, at times I think we are stuffed, for example when I see the smug faces of people driving their children to school in their SUVs instead of cycling. Looking around, most people will not want to give up a materially affluent live style, rather have even more. Politicians still promise and people demand more.

On the other hand, if or when all goes pear shaped, somebody in say 30 years could say to me: "What have you done to avoid what was bound to happen?" I would like to be in a position to say that I tried, through publications and by working on shared mobility. If there is a chance to turn things around, I would not like to miss it by being defeatist.
